Bowland Cheddar for the perfect Mac ’n’ Cheese
Mac ’n’ Cheese is a delicious dish combining macaroni pasta and cheese sauce to create a beautiful and satisfying meal. It is of course possible to incorporate other ingredients such as chicken, meat and even breadcrumbs.

Pasta and cheese casseroles date back to the 14th century and a dish of parmesan cheese and pasta was recorded in the Italian medieval cookbook ‘Liber de Coquina’.
A cheese and pasta casserole known as ‘makerouns’ was also recorded in the14th century medieval English cookbook the ‘Forme of Cury’. The recipe was based on fresh, hand-cut pasta sandwiched between a mixture of butter and cheese. Delicious!
